Frequently Asked Questions
Where does my money go if I donate?
All money donated to the Murray High Alumni Association goes to support its initiatives and pay the minimal fees we incur for running a 501c3 nonprofit. MHAA board members and volunteers are not paid and volunteer their time to help provide everything you see.
Do you help with class reunions?
We help where we can. We love to coordinate with classes to give them the opportunity to give back. Many classes choose to set a scholarship fundraising goal or hold a food drive that helps provide meals for students on the weekends. On our end, we would be glad to help you keep track of who is attending your reunion and publicizing it on our Facebook page and here on the site. Head to our Class Reunion page and fill out the form and we will get back to you.
How can I get involved?
There are a number of ways to get involved! Fill out the form above (on the right hand side) and we’ll reach out to you!
Were the Murray colors really purple & orange?
Before the Spartans, there were the Smelterites, sporting the Purple and Gold. Across the street stood the famous smokestacks and inside the gym, cheers could be heard, “We are Smelterites! You smell wrong, we smell right!” (True story!) The Class of 1952 was the last class to graduate as Smelterites before Murray High moved across State Street to its current location and took on the Spartan as its mascot in 1954. Go Spartans (and Smelterites)!
